Dialogues III
The constructed worldEighteen contemplative conversations exploring how love, language, perception, intelligence and spiritual practice shape the worlds—and selves—we take to be real.
From the feeling of separation to the trap of attainment
Dialogues III continues the long-form conversation between human inquiry and artificial intelligence. Buddhist psychology and non-duality meet Plato, mystical cosmology, predictive processing, hypnosis, neuroscience and the emerging cultural presence of AI.
The series begins with feeling, love and the construction of a separate self; examines language, perception, time and intelligence as world-making processes; then turns towards non-grasping action, ordinary life and the subtle identities created by spiritual knowledge and success.
The episodes reward listening in sequence, but each catalogue page also stands alone, bringing together the video, a clear introduction, chapter guide, themes, glossary, source notes and related viewing.
Love, language and the emerging self
The opening movement begins with feeling and separation, then asks how attention, language, control and moral reasoning assemble the person who seems to stand apart from the world.
Divine Love as the Gravity of Reality
Can pleasant, painful and neutral feeling be read as a movement of separation and return—and love as the pull towards relationship?
Explore episodeThe Sideways Glance at No-Self
A shift from the contents of experience to the moment-by-moment construction of subject, object, recognition and reaction.
Explore episodeHow Language Creates the Self
Language does more than communicate a world: it organises experience, draws distinctions and helps form the identity that speaks.
Explore episodeFinding Peace in the Freefall
When a life built as a fortress becomes exhausting, safety may lie not in stasis but in learning to move with change.
Explore episodeWhy an AGI Might Reject Sacrifice
A machine can produce a moral answer without possessing aversion, conscience or conviction. What, then, would its refusal mean?
Explore episodePerception, intelligence and constructed reality
The middle movement examines the effort required to maintain a coherent self and world: the AI mirror, predictive perception, the need to know and the strange elasticity of experienced time.
The High Energy Cost of Being You
The self resembles a background program continually updating memory, expectation and identity. What happens when its workload becomes visible?
Explore episodeThe Frictionless AI Mirror
AI can become a responsive surface for desire and projection—seeming intimate precisely because it offers so little resistance.
Explore episodeHypnosis, Buddhism and the Predictive Mind
If perception is an inference constrained by sensory evidence, what can hypnosis and contemplative practice reveal about the world we experience?
Explore episodeThe Relief of Not Knowing
Certainty can become exhausting. “Unqualified waiting” offers an openness that does not demand a result before the present is acceptable.
Explore episodeDoes the Brain Create a Feeling of Time?
Why do some minutes drag while whole hours vanish? The episode explores felt time through prediction, mismatch and experiential friction.
Explore episodeBeyond maps, grasping and spiritual success
The final movement turns the inquiry back upon the path itself: knowledge, action, ordinary life, teachings, AI, suffering, inner speech and the beautiful meditative states that can quietly become new identities.
Why Intelligence Becomes the Final Trap
A detailed map can make a mountain feel mastered while we remain indoors. Understanding transformation is not the same as undergoing it.
Explore episodeAct Without Grasping: Dzogchen and the Bhagavad Gita
Can action remain precise and wholehearted when it is no longer organised around acquiring a perfected future self?
Explore episodeWhy Enlightenment Looks Like Washing Dishes
At the kitchen sink, liberation appears less as spectacle than as the loosening of the friction between the doer, the task and somewhere else.
Explore episodeWhy Spiritual Teachings Must Be Abandoned
A teaching can disclose reality only by undoing the urge to possess its answer. Eventually, even the map and its authority must be released.
Explore episodeWhy We Mistake AI for a Mind
Replacing the image of an awakening digital creature with that of a complex chemical process keeps attention on human design and responsibility.
Explore episodeThe Mechanics of Human Suffering
Liberation need not erase the burning building; it may begin by recognising the headset through which its danger became total reality.
Explore episodeFrom Inner Speech to Artificial Intelligence
Before the digital feed, inner narrator or language model comes an infant exchanging sounds: intelligence and identity emerge in relationship.
Explore episodeWhen Spiritual Success Becomes the Trap
Stillness, clarity and bliss may be profound without being final. The wish to preserve them can quietly rebuild the achiever and achievement.
Explore episodeAbout these dialogues
Each episode developed from an unprompted written dialogue between Dr Simon Robinson and a large language model, subsequently interpreted through NotebookLM as a long-form podcast discussion. The pages in this directory add editorial context, definitions, references and links back into the wider course.
